Headlight Restoration Service In Fort Wayne

Restore Your Headlights, Get Better Visibility, and Make Your Car Look Newer

Do your headlights have a foggy-hazy look to them? Maybe you’ve noticed your visibility at night or during the rainy times is much lower (thank you Indiana weather). No worries, you don’t have to replace them, nor do you have to open up your lens (as many people think the haziness is from the inside of the lens. Most of the time it’s not).

Professional Headlight Restoration

Unlike store-bought kits, Luxe Detailing performs a complete 8-step restoration process—sanding, compounding, polishing, and sealing—to remove oxidation and restore crystal-clear headlights that look and perform like new.

  1. Start sanding headlight with 800 grit

The first round of sanding is where the oxidization is removed. You’ll see a lot of slurry come off.

  2. Sand headlight with 1,000 grit

As we move up the process, we remove less oxidization. The focus now is to refine the sanding marks.

  3. Sand headlight with 1,500 grit

You can start to see a noticeable difference in the clarity of the headlights.

  4. Sand headlights with 2,500 grit

  5. Sand headlights with 3,000 grit

This is the final sanding step. The headlight is looking much clearer

  6. Sand headlights with 3,000 grit

This is the final sanding step. The headlight is looking much clearer

  7. Compound the headlights

Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we’ll remove the sanding marks.

  8. Polish the headlights

Finally, we’ll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad.

  9. Protect the headlights

For protection, we’ll apply a 1-year ceramic coating. This will provide durable protection.

By sanding your headlights, we’re removing the old layer of clear coat that has failed and oxidized (which leads to the yellow-foggy look). Then we’ll compound and polish to bring them back to a like-new condition. Finally, for protection, we’ll apply a 1-year ceramic coating.

NOTICE: We no longer offer headlight restorations as a stand-alone service. It’ll need to be combined with at least one other service.

Headlight Restoration FAQ

Do you come to me?
Yes! We offer both mobile and shop-based services. However, we do not provide headlight restoration as a standalone service—it must be paired with another service like our Full Interior Clean or Detailing Package. Some location-based limitations may apply. We service Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.

How long does this service take?
The time required depends on the size and condition of your headlights, but most restorations take between 45 to 90 minutes. If the damage is severe, it may take longer.

Can you restore any headlights?
While we can significantly improve most headlights, there are cases where the damage is too extensive to achieve a like-new result. However, we can still enhance their appearance and functionality.

Why do my headlights get cloudy?
Your headlights, like your car’s paint, have a protective clear coat. Over time, sun exposure causes this layer to deteriorate, leading to oxidation, yellowing, and hazing. Given the weather conditions in Fort Wayne, headlights take a beating, especially if your vehicle is parked outside often.

How do I keep my headlights looking good?
Regular maintenance is key. Applying a sealant or wax every 3 to 5 weeks can help extend the clarity of your headlights. If possible, parking in shaded areas will also slow down deterioration.
